Legacy is something that is handed down into one’s possession or transmitted, inherited or received from a predecessor.

The MCU community takes pride in its former President’s legacy as it held the “Vision Mission 2018: The Dr. Aristotle T. Malabanan Legacy” last December 3, 2018 at the LRC Vertical Auditorium.

“Our mission as an educational institution is clear: Transforming citizens into productive members of society,” Dr. Malabanan once wrote. “Understanding is the building block of knowledge.”

It was in 2015 when Dr. Aristotle T. Malabanan, MCU President, initiated a review of the MCU Vision, Mission, Institutional Philosophy and Values. On February 15, 2017, the MCU Board of Trustees approved the revisions. The revised versions were launched last April 6, 2017.

“Dr. Malabanan is a man of vision and a man of letters,” Ira Maniquis, Vice President for Administrative Affairs said as he described Dr. Malabanan. “I am privileged to have learned and read some of his thoughts and writings.”

“MCU continues to utilize the institution’s heritage of timeless values along with its tradition of academic excellence,” Mrs. Lerma F. dela Cruz, President of MCU Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) said in her testimonial.

Being the PTA President, MCU made Mrs. dela Cruz realize that she can be a mother and leader at the same time. A parent-leader that serves as voice of her co-parents and a partner of the MCU Administration in solving issues and other concerns.

Grade 10 student Eunice F. dela Cruz envisioned herself being in the right path towards her future through the Vision and Mission. “MCU gave me clear picture that I can do more. I can give more and I can make a difference,” Eunice said.

“I am confident that the wisdom left to us by our former President (Dr. Aristotle T. Malabanan) will sustain this legacy and bring us to greatness,” said Aliana Margarett E. Makapugay, an Optometry student, as she expressed her thoughts on MCU Vision and Mission.

“It is within our hands to continue his (Dr. Malabanan’s) legacy in cultivating the minds and hearts of everyone towards the attainment and development of a better country, of a better world,” Aliana continued.

The words of these MCU stakeholders are a continuation of what Dr. Malabanan has started.

“I accept the challenge to uphold MCU’s Vision and Mission – and over 104 years of excellence and highly regarded track record,” Dr. Malabanan said during his investiture ceremonies as MCU President in 2009. “Over a century of operation means that MCU is doing something right and doing something good.”

More than imbibing the Vision and Mission of the University, the triumph of Centralinos are products of Dr. Malabanan’s legacy that will forever be etched in MCU’s track record of successful graduates.
