“It takes a lot of time and much effort for you to reach the stars. Once you accomplish this, let your light shine upon others and be an inspiration to others yourself,” said John Carlo D. Hijosa in his valedictory address in the MCU 2018 Commencement Exercises at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center last April 23, 2018.

John Carlo, a College of Business and Technology cum laude, recalled his freshman days in MCU. He focused on academics and was active in several university-wide student organizations. John Carlo was a consistent Filemon D. Tanchoco scholar since first year and became a recipient of the Department of Science and Technology scholarship on his 3rd and 4th year levels.

Hijosa was awarded by the Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators Foundation, Inc. as the Most Outstanding IT Student in the National Capital Region for school year 2017-2018.

He expressed gratitude to the people who have been by his side all throughout his journey. John Carlo gave special mention to his grandmother and parents for their unwavering love and support. He wants to give back to his mother for being his inspiration and reason for waking-up in the morning.

“Nay, maraming salamat po sa lahat. I will be successful para sabay po natin matupad and mga pangarap nating dalawa,” John Carlo said publicly.

On her part, Mrs. Luningning T. Estanislao, MCU President lauded the graduates and said, “Being authentic to oneself as you relate to others is your key to successful life.”

Mrs. Estanislao thanked the Centralino graduates and their parents for making MCU a big part of their lives and future.

Almost 500 students received their diplomas after being conferred as graduates.
