On June 2017, Dr. Christine S. The award is the highest recognition bestowed by the PRC to a professional who thoroughly demonstrated professional competence of the highest degree and conducted herself with integrity in the exercise of her profession.

In the effort to maintain the high standard of education, the MCU College of Optometry achieved the PACUCOA Level III 1st Reaccreditation. It has established several linkages for the benefit of its students and the college such as membership in Asia Pacific Council of Optometry and VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) International, and the establishment of the first-ever Essilor Sight Center in the Philippines.

To date, the MCU College of Optometry holds the distinction of being the only optometry school in the Philippines to have a Center of Excellence status granted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). COE refers to a department within a higher education institution which continuously demonstrates excellent performance in the areas of instructional quality, research and publication, extension and linkages and institutional qualifications. MCU Optometry was awarded as the Center of Development in 2009.
