The Manila Central University – Filemon D. Tanchoco Medical Foundation Institutional Review Board (MCU IRB) was granted Level 3 accreditation status by the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB). This was confirmed in a letter from PHREB Chairman Dr. Leonardo D. de Castro last March 7, 2016.

With the PHREB Level 3 status, MCU IRB receives the privilege to be a part of the Ethics Review Research Committees of the Philippine Food and Drug Administration.

MCU IRB is among the institutions with the highest level of accreditation to be awarded on March 17 during the 34th anniversary of the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development.

The MCU IRB is an independent ethics review body that is responsible for the review of clinical trial protocols and other clinical research proposals that aim to ensure the protection of rights, safety and well-being of human subjects involved in health related research and provide public assurance, among others.
