“You are accepted and loved by the people who believe in you,” Julianne Tarroja, a professional singer and songwriter said. “You start by accepting yourself.”

Julianne, a talent of Manila Genesis Entertainment and Management Inc., was among the resource speakers in a motivational and confidence-building program for Grade 7 to 10 students entitled “Who am I?” held at the Manila Central University (MCU) Centennial Gym last July 22, 2015.

“Who am I?” is a public affairs program of Manila Genesis, led by its president Angeli Pangilinan Valenciano, to inspire young individuals to live happy and productive lives. The artists are on a tour of schools and other institutions and had MCU as their first engagement.

“Surround yourself with the right friends who encourage you and remind you of your worth,” Julianne told the students. She sang two of her hits songs “Tulak ng bibig, kabig ng dibdib” and her breakthrough single, “Fly” for the MCU students. “Fly” won for the Manila Genesis talent the Best Female Recording and Best New Female Artist at the Awit Awards in 2008. Julianne with her fellow artist Sitti, also won the Best World Music trophy at the Awit Awards in 2014 for the song “Pansamantagal”.

On her part, Abby Assistio said, “We are made much stronger by our scars. Remember, you are beautiful.”

Abby, herself a popular singer and songwriter and noted alopecia awareness advocate, discussed how alopecia became her motivation to inspire people all over the world. Alopecia is an autoimmune disease in which hair is lost from some or all areas of the body, usually from the scalp. Abby, who performed her hit song “Beautiful” for the MCU students, was named one of Mega Magazine’s 10 Most Beautiful Women of 2014.

“God helped me move on. I trusted His plans for me,” Acel shared. Acel is a longtime popular singer and songwriter who made her mark in the OPM (Original Pilipino Music) scene with her hit songs “Torete” and “Sulat”.

Acel was nominated for Best Inspirational Recording for “Liliwanag”, a song she produced and arranged. Now a mother of two, Acel inspires and encourages young people and added, “Do not base your identity on someone. Base it on your designer, God.”

Also with the Manila Genesis group as host was RJ dela Fuente, Celebrity Chronicle’s Most Promising Male Performer in 2011, a contestant in American Idol Season 10 also in 2011 and a finalist in The Voice of the Philippines Season 1.

The program ended with a lively open forum where the students had a chance to interact and ask questions with the guest celebrities who gamely answered the questions and also gave advice.

Manila Genesis Entertainment and Management Inc. was established in 1986 to create content and represent and support artists who use their skills to excel in their respective fields and glorify God.
