In response to a public clamor for more instructions offering secondary education, the Manila Central University High School was founded in June of 1940.
The school which was first named Alejandro Albert High School after the founder of its mother institution the Manila College of Pharmacy, was originally located at Felix Huertas and Mayhaligue streets in Sta. Cruz, Manila Central University.
The War of 1941 prompted the school to close its portals which were later on used as Japanese garrison in 1944 and were then looted of its valuables.
During the Liberation of 1945, however, the school was recognized and became the first to offer secondary education.
After ten years, the school was transferred to a building of its own near the Bonifacio Monument in Grace Park, Caloocan City.
Since then, the High School has been continuing to educate the youth through its dynamic and competent teaching staff who help mold students to be intellectually capable and morally upright.
Today after 60 years in existence, the Manila Central University High School still stands proud of its aim of educating the the youth by meeting the challenges and needs of modern education.
Its building which has withstood earthquakes but has not undergone major changes through its 50 years has been a living witness to the many accomplishments the students, the teachers and the administrators did during the past years.
