Optometry
The science and art of examining the human eye, analyzing the ocular function, prescribing and dispensing ophthalmic lenses, prisms, contact lenses and their accessories and solutions, low vision aids, and similar appliances and devices, conducting ocular exercises, vision training, orthoptics, installing prosthetics, using authorized diagnostic pharmaceutical agents (DPA), and other preventive or corrective measures or procedures for the aid, correction, rehabilitation or relief of the human eye, or to attain maximum vision and comfort.

OBJECTIVES:
To graduate highly skilled and competent optometrists to be responsive in the community.
Five fold Objectives of the Optometry Curriculum:
- To provide our students with the necessary professional education and training so that they may successfully practice optometry in an ethical and professional manner.
- To facilitate the intellectual development of students to providing them with skills and experience to maximize their chances for meaningful research.
- To instill in the students respect and desire to seek knowledge and truth through research.
- To prepare the students for intellectual, political and cultural leadership.
- To foster understanding of the role of Optometry and its relation to a changing society with its emerging concept of health care geared towards nation building.
